Purpose of template

When Wikipedia articles become too large, subarticles are usually created. This template, used in the subarticle, uses the name of the main article as a parameter to produce a link to the main article:

Article

will produce

Main article{}: {{ safesubst:p{{ safesubst:#ifArticle:Article{}|1|2}}|{}|}}

To reference multiple articles, the main articles template can be used instead, as so:

main articles a, b, c

which produces:

Main article{}: {} a, b, c
