Summary
DescriptionAudi 2.3 L SOHC 10V I5 engine.jpg |
English: An Audi R5 2.3 L SOHC 10V I5 engine in a 1988 Audi 80 quattro. This engine was later made in a 20V DOHC variant. Because of the length of the five-cylinder engine and its forward positioning (to accommodate the longitudinal FWD transaxle; the engine is so far forward that the timing belt cover is even with the holes the hood fastens into), the radiator and cooling fan are positioned adjacent to the engine. The engine itself is slanted (compare the location of the valve cover/oil filler cap with the location of the red oil dipstick) to make room for the radiator and to lower the hood clearance. |
