The open access criteria (Klump et al., 2006) directly relevant for Plankton*Net in the framework of intellectual property rights are:
(1) Licence to copy, use, distribute, transmit and display the work publicly,
(2) Licence to make and distribute derivative works if proper attribution of authorship is given,
Plankton*net's content in the form of metadata and/or images associated with observations and sets are licensed under the terms of Creative Commons license attribution, non-commercial, share-alike variant.
