Jacquard coverlet made by the Craig Family, Decatur County, IN. The object in this image is within the permanent collection of The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis
“Professional weavers (mostly men) would set up a shop or travel around and make coverlets. Often the person buying the coverlet would provide the weaver with wool they had spun and dyed themselves. This coverlet was made by the Craig family in Decatur County, Indiana in 1858 for Mrs. Nancy Williams.” The Children’s Museum of Indianapolis, IMCPL Digital Collections
